Open Studios with Tim Best, Lee Deigaard & Dave Greber

bestTim Best: I compose my photographs with iconic imagery from popular culture and fashion. While rearranging or eliminating familiar details like celebrity or fame from the image, I work to create a new image in a surrealistic manner, one that has familiar elements from popular culture but also is open to questions of unfamiliarity. Body gestures and facial expressions are important components of my images communicating or suggesting a narrative.deigaard

Lee Deigaard: Employing trees as subject, collaborator, muse, and metaphor, my drawings explore the neural mechanisms of perception, in particular, the experience and velocity of looking at a tree.

greberDave Greber: I draw my inspiration from pulp diversions such as daytime television, straight-to-DVD movies, and advertisements to accommodate a playful nature in my films. I skew these familiar forms to motivate my viewers to think critically about the motives of all media makers.

Unveiling of new Shoe Stories designs by Claudia Lynch in the ArtWorks MarketPlace

lynchClaudia Lynch: I find great freedom in designing fanciful footwear that will only exist on paper. The graphic shape of a shoe, particularly one that does not have the constraint of functionality, lends itself perfectly to unusual architecture and applied embellishment-whatever is necessary to express a character, a situation, or even an entire story. The proportions are exaggerated, heightening the historical sexual connotation that has always surrounded women’s shoes.
