Patterns are in everything we see in the visual world, from textiles to rugs, wallpaper to tiles, nature to microorganisms. Join us for an extended workshop of printing patterns. We will explore the concept of patterning, creating original patterns based on nature, pop culture, or imagination. Learn to carve relief blocks for block printing patterns on fabric or large paper. The first class will involve planning, drawing, and carving relief blocks. The second class will be devoted to printing. Students should bring image source materials (books, magazines, natural elements-leaves, twigs, stones, photos) to class. Paper and other printing materials will be provided.
