
The Louisiana ArtWorks Studio Residency Program seeks to provide serious artists with the vital creative resource of studio space while enriching our local community through public interaction and fresh, innovative perspectives. Our building contains a total 19 studios on the 2nd and 3rd floors of our facility.
Louisiana ArtWorks offers the following residencies:
1 year, NOLA Artist: Includes all artists from the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan Area. 10 individual studio are available free-of-charge.
1-3 year, Continuing NOLA Artist: Includes all artists from the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan Area. 5 individual studios are available as rentals ranging from $143 to $357.50 per month. Accepted artists may choose to remain a maximum of 3 years consecutively. The number of Continuing Nola Artist studios available to applicants varies from year to year.
1 week-3 months, Louisiana Artist: Includes artists from across the State of Louisiana, outside the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan Area. 2 individual studios are available free-of-charge.
3 weeks-3 months, National Artist: Includes artists currently living outside the State of Louisiana. 2 studios are available free-of-charge.

Studio Space: NOLA Artist studios range from 153-390 sq. ft.; Continuing NOLA Artist studios range from 156-390 sq. ft.; Louisiana and National Artist studios range from 180-322sq. ft.

24-7 access to individual studio spaces
20% discount of rental time in printmaking, glass, metal, and ceramics shops. Artists wishing to work in one of the shops must first enroll in our 101 instructional classes, which are prerequisite to usage. Ceramics, Print, and Metal memberships now available.
20% discount off all Louisiana ArtWorks workshops and classes (refer to website under each shop department pages for details; http://www.louisianaartworks.org)
Minimum of 4 yearly visits by art professionals provide residency participants with increased visibility and the potential for career advancement
Inclusion in State Registry for Louisiana artists only (optional)

Eligibility
All Studio Residency Program participants must be a citizen or legal alien resident of the United States. Area, Extended Stay Area, and State Residency applicants must have lived in the State of Louisiana for a minimum of one year as a working artist. Applicants must see community as a vital component of the arts, and be able to balance personal work with community aspects of the residency. Artists must actively use studios consistently.
Accommodation
Louisiana ArtWorks does not provide on-location residency lodging. Studios are for work only, and may not be used as living spaces. Upon request, Louisiana ArtWorks will provide State and National residency participants with a list of affordable housing options.
Transportation
The Louisiana ArtWorks facility is located on the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar line, a convenient and easily accessible part of the New Orleans public transportation system.
This program is made possible by the Joan Mitchell Foundation, and a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation & Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council. Funding has also been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, a Federal agency.
