Louisiana ArtWorks Studio Residency Program
Eligibility
All Studio Residency Program participants must be a citizen or legal alien resident of the United States. NOLA Artist, Continuing NOLA Artist, and Louisiana Artist applicants must have lived in the state of Louisiana as a working artist for a minimum of one year. Applicants must be community-oriented and be able to balance personal work with community aspects of the residency. Artists must actively and consistently use their studio spaces. Applicants must be over 21. Students will not be considered for residency.
Deadlines
The NOLA Artist and Continuing NOLA Artist Residency applications for the June 15th 2010- May 31st 2011 Residency must be received in the office by April 26, 2010. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by May 31, 2010. The Louisiana Artist and National Artist Residency applications are accepted year-round, on a rolling basis.
Accommodation & Transportation
Louisiana ArtWorks does not provide on-location residency lodging. Studios are for work only, and may not be used as living spaces. Upon request, Louisiana Artworks will provide State and National residency participants with a list of affordable housing options. The Louisiana ArtWorks facility is located in the Central Business District conveniently situated between uptown and downtown living areas. Louisiana ArtWorks is on the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line, a convenient and easily accessible part of the New Orleans public transportation system.

Submission Guidelines
Applicants failing to follow guidelines will not be considered for residency. Please enclose hard copies of all documents except work samples. Be sure to include your name on each document and disc. Submit all application materials in one package. In addition to the applicant form, please include the following:
WORK SAMPLES
- 20 digital images of work completed within the past three years, OR two video samples, maximum 3 minutes each. Images must be in JPEG format, maximum 600 x 800 pixels, 72 dpi, and burned to a CD/DVD. Please name each file as “your last name_first name_#” (example: Smith_John_1.jpg).
- Please include a hard-copy image list corresponding to the numbered files on CD/DVD, indicating title, medium, dimensions, and date completed. This document must also be labeled with your name.
- Accepting digital files only and if return of materials is desired, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.

- What do you hope to achieve through your residency, in terms of creative and professional development?
RESUME (two pages)
ONE LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION
- Letter of recommendation from art professional, scholar, or accomplished artist. Letters should attest to your artistic commitment, initiative, and potential and must be originally signed copies (printed on company letterhead if applicable).
Applications for NOLA Artist and Continuing NOLA Artist residencies must be received by April 26, 2010. Applications for Louisiana Artist and National Artist residencies are accepted year-round.

Reapplication: Louisiana Artist and National Artists may reapply at any time. NOLA Artist and Continuing NOLA Artist may reapply three years following the termination of previous residency. Continuing Nola Artist Residency recipients may participate for three years consecutively and reapply three years after termination of previous residency.
